how can we think that money matters
more than individuals?
that prisons will solve
all our problems?
more jet fighters
less taxes paid
less bicycle safety
more express lanes
we have wounded our souls
in the search for quick profits
we have cleaned our new boots
on the backs of the masses
all i ask is for equality,
over dollars
all i really seek,
is peace instead of war
until everyone is equal
we will remain off balance
until we look after one and other
we will suffer for our omissions
short sighted mean spiritedness
only hurts us all
lack of seeing what is real
makes everything false
with love i accept the current paradigm
with hope i desire change
another moment of regression for a city still trying to find itself.
congratulations toronto you have once again elected a fool as mayor.
i have and always will love this city, unfortunately i will have to spend the next four years shaking my head at the inanity coming out of cityhall.
i had hoped that we as a collective did not need to see more mean spirited, every motherfucker for themselves policy take control of such a diverse place, but colour me blinded by our obvious need to see that reflected back at us.
we live in a country of cowardly federal politics where a minority government has been slowly and methodically shifting us towards a caricature of the failed american empire, where the only real results will be more stupidity and international isolation, which given our strengths might not be a bad place to be in the end, but really people it would be nice if you woke the fuck up.
so i will spend the next period of time laughing, because anger and frustration will only lead to self-destruction.
i love you toronto, but wake the fuck up. so please sleep well tonight.

in a culture that still espouses a belief
that a good man is hard to find
yet a hard man is good to find
it feels to me that men cannot quite piece together
who they are within this context
one is left to follow the cultural memes
where women are both bitches and hos
yet also mother and madonna,
fuck i am confused by this,
perpetuation of domination
and subversion of female power
has led us to the brink of self-destruction
as people and our planet’s caretaker
yet it still leaves men of heart and conscience
swimming against a current of power over
anyone who questions, power over
the fact that most of my friends
who have had children, have had girls
gives me the hope that women raised
by males who understand true equality
will be able to assist the males of their generation
to not be lost in this conundrum
.
there seems to be as many things we cannot control
as there are moments in a lifetime
but the one thing we can always control
is how we deal with those unknowns
for one can cower in fear
of uncertain outcomes
or one can take a step
make a movement
to try, to ask, to risk
for what it is they want
i believe that this is such a moment
.

it felt so primitive to be here in the 21st century
hardwired up to computer interfaced recording devices
that obviously interfere with ones normal processes
but here we are believing in progress
i just hope that something can come out of this
that will assist me in actually getting a restful sleep
the frustration of sleeping for eight hours a night
and being exhausted in the day is massive
